How to get a winning testimonial for a disability service

Disability services depend on trust to help grow their offering. Without trust, they would have no client base. But how do you achieve this through social media?

The answer is simple - real, authentic client testimonials.

But capturing people’s story, especially when it is sensitive can be hard. So here are some tried and tested steps to make the process better for everyone involved.

1. Build a relationship first

Jumping right into sensitive questions is rough. There is a foundational phase of building a relationship, asking ‘small talk’ questions, making the person feel at ease. Once you have rapport, then you can dive into the interview. Only stat once they are comfortable.

2. Assure the person you won’t post without consent

Interviews and videos are one thing, but you can’t expect the other person to feel happy with the end product. They are your story, so if they feel uncomfortable about what you are posting, you have a problem. You need to send it to them before you send it to thousands of people on Facebook.

3. Phone video can work

There is a misconception that you need a production team to get client testimonials. When actually the best, most natural stuff comes from phone videos. Try using your phone, it makes it easier for you and the person to capture real content.
